The U.S.A. House passed the Soldiers’ Bonus Bill over the President’s veto by 258 votes to 54. The Senate sustained President Harding’s veto of the bill by 44 votes to 28. Emigrants from the United Kingdom during the first half-year amounted to 75,234, whereof 18,337 went to Australia and 6,330 to New Zealand.
