ANOTHER HASTINGS FIRE.
SIXTH IN SIXTEEN DAYS. For the sixth time since February 17, the Hastings fire-bell rang out last night, the scene of the outbreak, on thia occasion being the unoccupied five-roomed residence situated on the corner of Avenue road and Market street, owned by the Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers and used by Messrs Macklow and Harris, carriers, whose premises are next the building, as a storehouse lor chaff. The place wall well ablaze when the brigade, under Superintendent Keith, was promptly in action, and the lire was quickly put out within the area of its origin, nut not before the structure was practically gutted. The fire evidently started at the rear of the residence, which has not been used as a dwelling for some considerable time, as it was condemned, but tho cause ot the outbreak is unknown. The manager of the Fruitgrowers says he does not think there is any insurance on the place, but he cannot be certain until he sees tho company’s solicitors.
