PARK ISLAND COMMITTEE.
The quarterly meeting cf tho Park Island Old People’s Committee was held yesterday afternoon, when Mr. H. Hill presided, and there were also present Messrs. W. Shrimpton, J. Harris. J. B. Andrew, AV. H. Kathhbone, and A. AV. Cook, Mr. Harris reported that he had proceeded to Hastings, where he bad selected about a ton of (.Id reading matter, which would be very acceptable at the home. A hearty vote of appreciation was accorded the Hastings BorJ. B. Andrew, AV. 11. Rathbone, and this respect. Accounts amounting to £1044 7/were passed fot payment. The Visiting Committee reported on the generally satisfactory state of the home, and the splendid behaviour of the inmates. An extension of the drainage had been carried out by two of tho inmates. Farming work was doimr well. It was decided to claim £525 5/- from the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board and £474 15-'- irom the AVaipnwa Board. Tho estimated requirement for the year was £4500, but so far only £2OOO has been collected. It was reported that there were 81 males and six females in the institution.
