ASCHE’S ANSWER TO CRITICS. (Received 18, 12.30 p.m.) London, Oct. 17. Replying to critics, Mr. Oscar Asche declares there is less to complain of in his new play than in some of the plays of which tho public not only show no disapproval but cheer. He adds that there always are critics who try to run down everything.—(A. and N.Z.)
The “Daily Mail” critic describes one scene of Oscar Ashe’s new play “Cairo” as indecent, both in conception and execution. He says the dancers recreate all tho lustfulness of Cleopatra’s days in a riot of sensuality. He expects tho censor to erase, the scone.'
