ITEMS IN THE AMENDING BILL. (Special to “Tribune.”) Par It. Buildings, Oct. 18. Tho Cook Islands Amendment gives power to provide for the election of one or more European members on the Island Councils. The High Court is given divorce jurisdiction in the case of a European married to a native or Asiatic. Formerly no European could secure divorce in the Islands. Section 32 of tho Board of Trade Act, 1919, which makes it an offence to sell goods at an unreasonably high price is extended to the Cook Islands, Prohibition is to he enforced, the only liquor that may be imported being that required for medicinal sacramental, or industrial purposes. Tho abduction of a girl of under 18 years of age with or without her consent is made an offence.
