BOY IMMIGRANTS.
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SCHEME. APPRENTICES FOR FARMS. Adelaide, October 12, The Government has adopted a scheme for the introduction of 6000 boys from England as farm apprentices, the boys to be between 15 and 18 years of age, and the apprenticeship to be for a minimum of one and a maximum of three years, during which the boys will be under the guardianship of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and will receive 4/- weekly, the remainder of their earnings being paid to the Immigration Department and placed to their credit at 4j per cent, interest, and paid to them at the age of 21. They will be rtquired to pay £26 passage money—£lo prior to departure and the balance to be advanced free of interest. A canvass is being made of farmers and pastoralists to absorb the lads,—(A. and N.Z.)
