FEDERAL POLITICS.
DEFEAT OF HUGHES POSSIBLE. INTERESTING DEVELOPMENTS. (Received 12, 12.10 p.m.) Sydney, Oct. 12. The no-confidence motion moved by the Leader of the Country Party in the Federal Parliament conies up for discussion on Tuesday. The “Daily Telegraph” says the situation has big potentialities. The Country Party cannot hope to win but it is stated that there are a number of Nationalists who desire to sec Mr. Hughes out of office and if the Labour Party decided to support the Country Party these malcontents will join the Opposition and Mr. Hughes will be defeated. Should that eventuate it is expected that Mr. Hughes will be able to form a party of Nationalists and moderate Labourites who are opposed to the present extremist drift. —(A. and N.Z.)
