PUKEHOU.
(Own Correspondent:.) Last week Captain Allen again visited us, and took part in an entertainment arranged by the Young Helpers’ League. Canon Arthur Williams was m the chair. The captain received an enthusiastic reception, and his items received frequent and prolonged applause. The To Ante College boys rendered several popular choruses winch wore much enjoyed. Dr. Barn ar do’s Homes will benefit to an amount exceeding three pounds. On Friday next, August 19th, the Community Club will conclude for this winter their evening socials. The young ladies of the district nave charge of this concluding evening, and arc arranging a programme which will prove a. fitting termination to the season's socials. Much practising of one thing and another has been going on lately, and I am sure everybody must lie very curious to know what it is all about. Friday night will tell us. The club has a small debt, which it is hoped will be repaid off by the collection which will be taken up during the evening.
