Mr. Gordon Wall, of Hastings, who recently underwent an operation in a private hospital and there developed pneumonia, is now on the fair road to recovery. The case of tho ownership of Lake Waikaremoana was mentioned at a sitting of the Native Court in Wellington, but as it was desired that the matter should he heard by the Full Court, it was adjourned sine die. About 200 people assembled in the Hastings Oddfellows’ Hall last evening, on the occasion of the St. Leonard’s Bowling Club’s euchre party and social, a very satisfactory attendance, considering tho attractions provided by the Orphans’ concert. Marbrook’s band supplied the music and a very iolly time was spent in dancing, under tho direction of Messrs G *ud W. Lincoln, who acted as M.O.’s. The card partv was also keenly enjoyable and tho first prizes won by Mr. Tack Maher and Mrs Frank Watson. During an interval in the proceedings ’upper, as "hospitably provided by the ladies of the club, was partaken of and tho evening was brought to a conclusion before midnight, when a happy gathering dispersed homewards. The prizes wore donated by Messrs Murray and J. Warren.
