FRENCH PROPOSE TO ERECT MON UMENT. (Received 17, 11.15 a.m.) Paris, Aug. IG. There is a movement on foot to erect a monument in front of Parliament House, Melbourne, to express French admiration for tho Australians’ work in the war, and to commemorate her soldiers who fell on French soil. It is proposed that tho monument take the form ! of a colossal marble globe surrounded by playing fountains.—(A. amLN.Z.)
