A COUNT’S JEWELS.
SMUGGLED AND STOLEN
AN ANXIOUS NOBLEMAN
Berne, Jan- 3. Count Esterhazy informed the police that he had been robbed of jewels costing 180 million crowns. The police arrested a young Swiss of good family and recovered the jewels at his house.
Esterhazy was delighted, but the Berne police telegraphed the Hungarian Government, who replied that Esterhazy had smuggled the jewels out of Hungary. The Swiss police are now holding the jewels.—(A. and N.Z.)
