FIRE ON RARANGA.
Wellington, July 22. A fire was discovered in.the ’tween decks of No. 1 hold of the steamer Raranga to-njght. The liner lyas fully loaded with general cargo, including flax and wool, and was to sail for London on Saturday at daybreak. The Citv Brigade was called out, and broke through an insulated door in order to get at the fire, but without success, as opening the door made the fire worse. The door had to be closed again. Thev will either have to cut through the'decks or lift the smouldering cargo from .the hold.
