“DECLARED BLACK.” ALL RACECOURSES IN NORTH ISLAND. LABOUR UNIONS’ DECISION. Auckland, May 11. At a meeting of a committee representing various Labour Unions this morning the following resolutions were carried with reference to the recent jockeys’ strike and subsequent disqualifications (1) That all racecourses in the North Island under the jurisdiction of the New Zealand Racing Conference be declared “black” from May 22, 1920.

(2) That all racehorses, racing material, and means of transport tc and from racecourses are hereby declared “black” in the North Island, and between the North and South Islands.

(3) That all trades unionists be notified of the foregoing resolutions, and be asked to locally and honourably give effect to them, and further, to give financial support towards the expense of the campaign. SOUTH ISLAND UNIONS’ SUPPORT ROYAL MEETING”MAY SUFFER. Christchurch, May 11. The executive of the New Zealand Related Printing Trades’ Association considered the jockeys’ complaints, and passed a resolution deploring the delay which has occurred in bringing the parties to the dispute together. The executive respectfully requests the Minister of Labour to use his best endeavours to meet the representatives of the jockeys at the earliest possible moment.

Later. A public meeting o' members of the Labour Unions convened by the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council is tj> be held, in Christchurch on Fridav night to consider the northern jockeys' dispute, and it is suggested in certain quarters that unless an early conference of the Jockeys' Association and employers is arranged there may possibly be trouble at the Royal race meeting at Riccarton on Saturday.

RAILWAY SUPPORT. The railwaymen are the latest body of workers to give support to the jockeys in their dispute. Two sections, the Newmarket and Auckland branches of the A.S.R.S. unanimously passed resolutions at regular meetings of the branches held on Saturday night, the former recommending members of all trades unions to refrain from attending or betting at race meetings until the dispute is settled in the’interests of the Jockeys’ Association, and the latter urging members of the branch to refrain from attending race meetings pending a settlement of the dispute in accordance with the requirements of Jockeys’ Association.
