Mr. A. J. Ellingham left Hastings this morning for Hamilton and Auckland. Mr, H. White, the well-known architect, of Sydney, accompanied by Mrs. White, is staying at Auckland. Mr. George Nelson, Director, and London manager of Messrs Niven and Co., leaves London in May on a visit to New Zealand. Mrs. Harry Keesing and her little grandson, of Napier, are staying afi Auckland, prior to leaving this country for Sydney. Mr. J. W. Collins, Secretary for Industries and Commerce, who hu been spending a holiday in Australia in company with Mrs. Collins, has returned to Wellington. A wedding of some interest took place this week at Greytown, when Miss A. Elsie Kempton, daughter Of the late Mr. Oliver Kempton, was married to Mr. S. Veitch, son of Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P., Wanganui. Hie wedding took place -at the Methodist Church, and was performed by the Rev. Gosnell. Mr. G. Kelly, hon. treasurer of the Hawkp’s Bay A. aud P. Society. who is leaving on a holiday and business visit tp England shortly, has been granted leave of absence by the Society. During his absehce, Mr. C. Douglas will act as treasurer. At a meeting of the Society to-day, Mr. Kelly was accorded a vote of thanks for his past work for the Society. / The mortal remains of Alexander Bruce Edgecombe, who passed away on Tuesday, were interred at the Takapau Cemetery on, Thursday. The funeral was largely attended. The Rev. H. Collier read the Burial service, officiating at St. Mark's Church and at the grayeside. The deceased, who was 34 years of age, was highly respected throughout the Hawke’s Bay district, and very sincere sympathy is extended from a large circle of friends to the bereaved relatives. He was a son of the late Mr. W. J. Edgecombe and Mrs. Edgecombe, of Takapau, and besides his widow and two little children, his mother, brothers and sisters are left to mourn their loss.
