GOULBOURN MEAT WORKS. DESTROYED BY FIRE. (Received 20, 10.50 a.m.) Melbourne, March 20. Fire destroyed the freezing works at Goulbourn Valley, of the Industrial Company of Sheepparton. Tut damage is estimated at £llO,OOO, most of which will fall upon the National Insurance Company of New Zealand.—(A. and N.Z.) INFLUENZA. INCREASED NUMBER OF CASES. (Received 20, 12.10 a.m.) Sydney, March 20. The influenza thermometer has steadily risen during the past few days. There were 63 cases yesterday. In addition an outbreak on the warship Encounter has already produced 74 cases. A feature of the epidemic is its rapidity, and the infeetiousness, but mildness, of the disease. —(A. and N.Z.) 1 NOTES FROM VARIOUS STATES (Received 20, 10.50 a.m.) Victoria has agreed to eo-operate with the Commonwealth in the wheat pool scheme.
