A very successful social and dance was held in the Clive Public Hall on Monday night last, in aid of funds to provide parcels for the Clive boys on active service. Some 70 couples assembled and also spent a very enjoyable time. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs. 11. Howard (piano) and C. Briasco (violin). The competitions were won as follows:—Soldier’s cake, Mr. Peter Brady (on active service); silver cruet, Mr. Pulford ; and cake No. 2, Mr. Kenny. Mr. G. P. Aldridge in the unavoidable absence of the secretary, Mr.' W. Kelly, presented the prizes and congratulated Clive on its successful' efforts. A number of musical items were also contributed. A very sub- j stantial sum will no doubt be the re-. suit of this effort.
