(Own Correspondent.) A successful afternoon in aid of the Copper Trail was given at the vicarage by the Bev. H. Collier and Mrs. Collier on Friday. The afternoon was most enjoyable and was responsible for raising £25 14/2 for th fund. Nurse Jackson who left by the express on Saturday morning to join an overseas draft was presented by the Rev. Collier with a fountain ?en as a small memento from the atriotic Committee. Nurse Jackson was loudly cheered as the train steamed out. A copper trail concert, on Friday next, which is being organised under the auspices of St. Mark’s vestry promises to be a big success. Some of the premier talent of Hawke’s Bay has been secured. The concert will be followed by a dance. The first match played at Takapjtu this season eventuated on Saturday ■when local plavers met those from, Waipukurau.
