BURGLARIES AT KELBOURN.

CHERISHED POSSESSIONS VANISH. Wellington; August 12. A serious burglary occurred in Kelburn a few nights ago, robbers entering the house of N. Phillips, Fairview Crescent, and getting loot worth several hundred pounds. Mr and Mrs.. Phillips left home early in the evening and were absent some hours. It was during their absence that the robbery occurred. As they were leaving home in the evening they noticed a pile of cases on the kerb nearby. When they returned the boxes had been removed inside the house. They found that their most cherished possessions of jewelIry, plate and silverware and the best of their clothing had vanished. It is believed the stolen goods were packed in the ‘empty cases and carted to some place of concealment. It is understood that this is the second burglary which has taken place at Kelburn in the past few weeks. The Phillip’s house is not on a frequented thoroughfare but on an eminence, in plain view from the houses of the neighbourhood.
