H.B. HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The H.B. Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs W. Shrimpton (chairman), T. Mason Chambers, H. Hill, T. Y. Dennett and Mrs. Murdoch. Messrs Beattie and Moeller were granted leave of absence. On the motion of Mr. Hill it was decided to send a letter to Mr. G. A. Macdonald, expressing sympathy with him in his illness, and conveying the hope that he will soon be about

again. A statement submitted by the secretary showed a debit balance on the ordinary account of £5951, and a credit on Loan Account No. 1 of £Bl3.

In answer to a question put by Mr. Hill, the chairman- said admittance to the McHardy Maternity Home was governed by the length of residence, in the district, which was in accordance with the Act.

Commenting on the training at the Maternit.',* Heme, the chairman said two of the nurses trained at the Home had jointly come first for. the colony, whi’e tee next . had gained honours. —On the motion of Mr. Mason Chambers it was decided to congratulate the medical staff, the Matron and the successful nurses. Tlie clerk of works reported that the contractor was making satisfaetorv progress with the Soldiers’ Word.

It was decided to paint the interior and exterior of the Margaret Ward. The Health Inspector reported that 35 cases of infectious diseases had been notified during the month. A renort by the Inspector, making suggestions for special precautions to be taken by persons visiting infectious cases? was referred to the Medical Superintendent for suggestions and approval. The Minister approved of the Board’s estimates, and intimated that, after the, recent conference, he was satisfied in giving his approval.
