AUSTRALIA. THE NEW LOAN. (Received 13, 10.20 a.m.) Melbourne, Aug. 13. The Commonwealth prospectus of of new war loan for forty millions, states that the loan will be isa-ued at par, interest at five per cent. The loan matures in 1923 and is subject to Commonwealth, but not State income tax.—(A. and N.Z.)

LABOUR’S SHORT CUT.

(Received 13, 10.20 a.m.) Sydney, Aug. 13. The Labour Conference has oomeluded. It carried a motion urging that the Arbitration Act be amended to provide that improved wages and conditions in the future be grantcd to unionists only, and that all incomes in excess of one thousand pounds a year be appropriated for the purpose of paying the war debt. —(A. and N.Z.)
