HASTINGS PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Hastings Patriotic Committee xvas held last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr. W. Hart), in the chair; and Messrs J. S. ?4cLeod, J. Munro, T. Clarkson, J. H. Colebourne. W. A. Kiely, A. L. D. Fraser, and the Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst and Father Mahoney. Leave of absence was granted Mr. E. H. Williams.

A letter forwarding copy, of the roll of men in the First Division was received. Considerable discussion took place on a resolution “That the Advisory Board be instructed to support an application from the Y.M.C.A., asking the Board*'to arrange with patriotic societies throughout New Zealand to contribute £3OOO per month for the ordinary routine xvar work of the Y.M. C.A.. and a further £lOOO for comforts.” It was pointed out that Haxvke’s Bay’s share would be £lBOO per annum. On the motion or Messrs A. L. D.
