HAWKE'S BAY ART UNION.
DRAWING POSTPONED. The drawing of the Hawke’s Bay Art Union, which was set down for next Friday, has had to be postponed, owing to the fact that through the dislocation of the mail services, due to the waterside trouble, some 1,500 tickets distributed in Gisborne and the East Coast districts cannot reach Hastings till next week. The committee held a meeting last evening . and passed the following resolution: — “That the Minister of Internal Affairs be asked for an extension of the drawing of the, Hawke’s Bay Art Union until March 16th., as owing to the dislocation of the Gisborne and East Coast mail service, attributable to the waterside workers’ trouble, many returns of sold tickets cannot arrive in time for the advertised date of drawing,. Friday next.” Through the courtesy of the Hon. AV. D. S. Macdonald, the above resolution was sent by telegram last evening to the M r ter of Internal Affairs.
To this telegram the Miiiister for Internal Affairs replies: “Mill be glad to extend Art Union as asked for in the Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald’s telegram on application being received from you."
