A BATCH OF “PROHIBS.”

Bartholomew Maloney, charged with procuring liquor for Elizabeth Clements and for assisting the same to drink liquor, pleaded not guilty to the first charge and guilty to the second charge. Sergeant Hogan prosecuted and Mr. E. J. AV. Hallett appeared for accused. Mr. Hallett submitted that there was no evidence to show that accused had procured the liquor, although he had participated in the drinking of it. Accused denied procuring the liquor for the women. The women were at the back of the Princess Theatre and they had a bottle of beer which he opened foi’ them.

Accused was convicted and fined £3 and the first charge, in defaultone month’s imprisonment, and on the second charge he was convicted and discharged. Elizabeth Clements, charged with a breach of her prohibition order, was convicted and fined 10/- and 7/costs.

John A\ r addell Roberts, charged with a breach of his prohibition order, pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined 20/- and costs 7/-. EXCESSIVE SPEED.

Frank Lanigan. for riding a motor cycle round the corner «f Heretaunga street at a greater speed than four miles an hour, pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined 10/- and costs 7/-.

FAILING TO ATTEND DRILL. N. J. Hunt, F. Chapman, T. AV. Avery, and G. Edgecombe, all senior cadets, were charged with failing to attend drill. Hunt was convicted and fined 20/Chapman 20/-, Avery 10/-, and Edgecombe 5/-, and the costs in each case was 7/-. CIVIL CASE. In an undefended civil case, Miller and Giorgi obtained judgment against Kaiti Tanatiu for £2l 15/9, the amount claimed, and costs <££ 4'-.
