HAWKE’S BAY SEAT.

Although several names have been mentioned as probable candidates for the Hawke’s Bay seat, rendered I vacant by the death of the Hon. Dr. McNab, no definite announcement has as yet been made. It is understood however, that the Liberal Party will not come to any hasty decision in the matter as far as the party is concerned, in selecting a candidate, but that due consideration will be given to the claims of those desirous of offering themselves. Further, that the selection of a candidate must have the unanimous approval of the party, and for that reason, the whole of the branches of the Liberal party in Hawke’s Bay will have a voice in making a final choice. Wq learn from an unofficial source than Sir John Findlay has been approached as to whether he would be prepared to contest the seat, and that he declined to give any definite reply’ at this early stage.
