A deputation of twenty Federal Oppositionists presented peace resolutions, urging the withdrawal of the proclamation, and the release of men in camp. At the annual “meeting of the Employers’ Federation, the President quoted instances of the go slow policy.” In this State alone, he said, the loss ran into many millions yearly. In one of the Federal factories men were turning out a certain article at the rate of forty daily, one man easily did ninety, vet the present output is still forty. The majority of the industrial output is from 25 to 50 per cent less than it should be during 1914-15. Strikes kept an average of 5000 employees idle. The President said I( I regret to find that the whole of the people here refuse to be guided by'their leaders. “A spirit of selfishness has allied itself to a disloyal section of the community with the object .of preventing the Commonwealth from redeeming the pledge to assist in the prosecution of the war to the end.”
