HAWKE’S BAY SOLDIERS’ CLUB.

The Hastings men of the 20th Reinforcements, who are on thenfinal leave, were farevvelled last night by a concert and supper at the Hawke’s Bay Soldiers’ Club. These functions have become exceedingly popular and are much appreciated by the soldiers. Last night there was the usual large gathering, the bill provided being of a most entertaining and enjoyable character, and the organisers are to be congratulated on their efforts in providing such a fitting farewell to the boys who are about to leave the shores of the Dominion, for perhaps, an indefinite period, and to do their share for the liberty of the British nation and all it- holds dear. The contributors to the musical part of the evening's entertainment were Mrs. T. AY. Lewis, who gave a spirited recitation, and Miss Young, Airs. Allen. Air. Stanley Prime and Dr. Keith, all of Napier, who rendered vocal items, all of which were heartily appreciated. Air. R. Brathwaite, in the course of a brief address, thanked the visitors ■4oi: their kindly assistance, and the ladies for providing such an excellent repast. During the evening Aliss Luckie, on behalf of the Lady Liverpool Committee, presented the men with their ‘‘Comforts for the Voyage” parcels. A pleasant evening concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
