RIDING ON FOOTPATHS.

[TO TUB BDITOB.I Sir, —At noon to-day whilst re turning from school my little girl, aged five, was knocked down in Omahu road by two larger girls who were riding bicycles on the footpath, and was considerably knocked about which will necessitate her staying home from school for several days. I am merely writing- this in the hope that our ever alive sergeant of police will occasionally detach one of the constables from the town and allow him to scout round in plain clothes in the hope that offenders of the above nature will be brought to book. Mothers will then feel less anxious when sending their tiny tots to school.—l am, etc.. PARENT. Hastings, Nov. 6, 1916. WHAT THE GERMANS REALLY ARE. [TO thb BDITOB. ] Sir, —Your very interesting reference to the above in last night’s issue of the “Tribune” set me thinking as to whether this moral squinting was the result of the Biblical instruction in schools or in spite of it ?—I am, etc., MOHIO.
