CASUALTIES.

SOLDIER KILLED ON RAILWAY Wellington, Nov. 1. Just before midnight an accident occurred at the Lower Hutt Railway Station by which Sergeant TV R. McVicar, C. Company, 19th Reinforcements, lost his life. The last troop train bound for Trentham was entering the staion at # reduced spee’d preparatory to stopping when Sergeant McVicar, attempted to board one of the carriages but missed his grip and fell between the carriages and the platform. The driver applied the brakes promptly, but when McVicar w-as located, he was found terribly mangled about the legs and head. Death must have been almost instantaneous. The deceased, it is thought, was a married man.
