RICCARTON TRACK NOTES. Christchurch, Oct. 1. The conditions were very wintry for training at Riccarton this morning. There was a cold wnftl and rain. Showers made the plough a trifle heavy. Rorke’s Drift, Kingform and John Barleycorn were together all the way of a mile, run in 1.48. A large number of others were out and did only easy work. WAIPAWA RACING CLUB. A committee meeting of the club was held on Monday evening for the purpose of receiving the balance sheet in connection with the late race meeting of the club, held on Monday, October 23rd. An application from Mr. Digby for a lease of a portion of the grounds was declined. Tne balance sheet showed an expenditure of £1586 11/1 _ and receipts of £1727 IS/4 showing a profit of £l4l 7.3. The result of the meeting was considered eminently satisfactory and suggestions were made to the ground committee to consider further improvements which were held as warranted considering the importance of the meeting. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all those who had in any wayassisted.
