LATE SHIPPING.

The Monowai is expected at 6 o’clock to-night and will sail late in the evening tor Gisborne and Auckland. Tie Ripple arrived in this afternoon from Wellington and sails to-morrow morning for Black Head and Akitio. The Mako is due to-night to load for To ogo Bay, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. The Kahu is in Auckland loading for coast and Gisborne and sails at 6 p.m. to-night. The Ruru left last night for Akitio and Wellington. The Fanny left last night for Waikokopu and is due back here to-morrow. The Echo is still in Wellington. The Kiritona is*at Tokomaru Bay discharging timber. The Tarawera is due on Wednesday from north and sails for south at noon the same day. The Arahura is expected in at about 6 a.m. to-morrow and will sail again for north at 8 p.m. the same evening. The Te Anau is loading in Bluff on November 6th, Oamaru Nov. 7th, Timaru No, Bth for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland.

MAGISTRATE’S COURT, NAPIER TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31st. (Before Mr. W. G. K. Kenriek, S.M.) IDLE AND DISORDERLY. ASSAULT. David Murray Sutherland Grant appeared on remand on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person, without visible means of support, and further with assaulting Alfred Ward (detective) while in the execution of his duty at Hastings. Accused asked if he could be remanded to allow him to obtain legal assistance. Detective "Ward stated that the accused had endeavoured to obtain legal help yesterday, but the solicitor had refused to act for him, consequently.he had pleaded guilty. He did not think it was any use remanding accused, as in any case he, himself, would be out of town next week. It was finally decided to adjourn the case till this afternoon, to give accused a final opportunity ot obtaining legal assistance. CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following undefended civil cases: — S. McLernon v. A. Brathwaite, £3 10/-, costs 10/-; H. Williams and Sons v. Chas. Clifford, £2 1/10, costs 13/-; Bn ant and Co. v. Agnes Hall. £4, costs 10/-; Bryant and Co. v. J. Urwin, £1 7/4, costs 5/-; Alexander Todd v. James Andrews, £6 5/-, costs 23/6; Alia Dass v. O. Tucker, 12/6, costs 5/-.
