WAIPUKURAU RIFLE CLUB.

(Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Rifle Chib was held in the Town Hall on Monday evening. The president. Captain Gibson, presided. The bal ante sheet showed an excess of £lB o' assets ov»r liabilities. The Dannevirke Rifle Club wrote inviting co-operation in approaching the Defence Department for some consideration. -Resolved to reply that application had been made to the Napier office on the lines suggested. It was decided to confer honorary membership on those members who have gone to the front. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. L. M. Monckton ; president. Sergeant J. R Atkins: treasurer. Rifleman (I. Gilbertson: secretary. Rifleman W. G. Bryce ; general committee. Riflemen Chambers, Booth, Shepherd. Oliver and Robinson. Letters of condolence to the president on the loss of his eldest son and to the relatives of the late Rifleman T. R. Brown were directed to sent. The retiring president was elect■■i. a lite member of the club and a vote of thanks was accorded to Air. J. Main for his donation of a gold medal to the club.
