“CHRISTMAS GIFT” GYMNKHANA.

MOTOR EVENTS A SPECIALTY.

Are you going to the Gymnkhana in McLean Park. Napier, on Saturday! It will be great. The motor events will be most exciting and following is a brief description of some of the special items—Driving Competition:—Drivers to drive between stakes to given point, and reverse back between the stakes to starting point. The winner will be the driver scoring least points. You will wonder how these points will be gained, and here you have it. Each second taken to do the whole journey to count as one point, and each stake knocked down will count ten points. In “Straffing the Zeppelins”, the latter will be made captive to stakes in the ground, the driver straffing the largest number being the winner. The winner of the “Stopping Competition” is the one whose total error is the least, after driving an imaginary line between two flags 20 feet apart, stops the front wheels as near as possible and thereon reversing and stopping the rear wheels as near as possible to the line between the two flags. In “Sea-Saw” the driver runs his car up “Sea-Saw,” and by aid Of forward and reverse gears to keep the “Sea-Saw” in motion. “Tilting the Ring” —the rings will be attached lightly to arms, the winner being the driver who finishes with the greatest number of rings on his lance. “Musical Chairs,” is similar to the ordinary game, but consists of the drivers manoeuvring round in a circle carrying a lady passenger who alights at the termination of the music and rushes for a chair. All entrance fees are 2/6. These sports are going to be absolutely sporting and together with the other highly interesting items, is going to prove something out of the ordinary.
