MARSHALLS CROSSING.

DESIRABILITY OF A BRIDGE. ENDORSED BY CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE. Yesterday, at the Napier Chamber of Commerce meeting, Mr. R. L Paterson moved a resolution asking the chamber to urge the County Council to erect a bridge at Marshall’s Crossing, and to put the work in hand at once. Speaking to his motion, Mr. Paterson said that if this chamber was to approach the County Council it would probably expedite the matter, so that the bridge would be erected in a few months. He understood that a petition was in circulation. which bore several hundred signatures. Moreover, Messrs. G. T. Donnelly, T. Clark and B. Chambers had offered to donate what was required. Mr. A. C. Mathison seconded the motion, which was unanimously carried. At the meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce last night a letter was read from V. Wyeke asking the chamber to support a petition paying the County Council to erect a bridge at Marshall’s Crossing.—The chamber resolved to forward a resolution urging on the County Council to proceed with the work.
