A square mile of territory adjoining the T tench concession at Tientsin has been seized by the French Consul with the assistance of troops. Pekin reports state that China lias protested against the seizure oi the ground adjoining the French c<- ncession. Tii-. French Legation replied that it assumed all responsibility. The occupied district is thickly poouiated. The Chinese press bitterly assail the French action.
