NAPIER MUNICIPAL THEATRE. “MY SWEETHEART.” The musical play “My Sweetheart” will be staged at the Municipal Theatre, Napier, this evening. The piece is being produced by Mr. _S. J. Davys and interpreted by a cast including Napier’s leading amateurs. The plot is full of interest and well connected, with a number of novel situations. Although “My Sweetheart” is unknown to the younger generation of theatregoers, yet there are many of the older folks who remember the days when Minnie Palmer and Charles Arnold staged the piece and brought it into popularity. The dialogue is bright and breezy, while the introduction of songs and choruses adds to the attractiveness of the piece as a whole. “My Sweetheart” has been in active rehearsal for several weeks, and, the various performers being proficient in their respective parts, a good presentation.is assured. There will be nothing lacking in the dressing and mounting, a considerable amount of attention having been devoted to these two sections. A full orchestra under the baton of Mr. J. A. Louis Hay will supply incidental music and accompaniments to the songs and dances. Seats may be reserved at Howe’s. The proceeds are to be devoted to the fund to supply Christmas gifts to the soldiers at the front.
