EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.
About 400 people assembled in the < Iddfeliow’s Hal). Hastings, last evening, for a social and dance inaugurated by Mr. R. L. Ryan and his pupils, to provide funds to pro|cure stationary for the Hastings boys at the Dardanelles. Progressive euchre was kept up till 10 p.m. After supjier Mr. T. Keith, on behalf of Mr. Ryan and his pupils t-innked all those present for their jkind patronage and judging by the large, crowd present, w hich'was one iof the biggest ever seen in the Oddfellow's Hall, the Hastings bevs at ■the front would be well off in the | way of writing material. <ind Liters will be coming home in hundreds. Miss Anderson, a tiny dot. then presented the w inners of t'n- euchre their prizes, which consisted of a silver-mounted umbrella for the gentlemen, ami a handsome parasol for the ladies. The winners were (hid ies) Mrs. .Sorenson, (gents). Air. 1.. Ridgway. ’P.m booby prizes v, ent to .Miss M. Hourigan and Air. A. M heck r.
During intervals iu the dancing, songs and recit,aliens were- contributed by the following : — Airs. Bennett. Alisses M. Spenee and Anderson and Air. Foley. Extras .were played by Air. and Aliss Gelhor ann i the Misses Timms and K. Smith. Air. Ryan and his pupils must be heartily’ congratulated on their 11heughtrulness in getting up an cnjtertainment for such a worthy cause and we are .sure the Hastings boys will highly appreciate the efforts of those coneerm:!.
