HASTINGS BOROUGH RATES.

LEVIES FOR CURRENT YEAR. At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council the following rates were struck on the motion of the Deputy-Mayor (Mr. T. Styles) and seconded by Cr. King:— General rate : Ijd. Library rate: One-fortieth of a penny. Special Rates. (a) Ou £45.000, being the foot paths, channelling and drainage portions of the £85,000 loan. 1910 seven tenths of a penny in the £. (b) On the £20.000 drainage re newal loan. 1912, three tenths of a penny in the £. (c) On £1(100 ami £3OOO (equalling £4000) being part ten per cent, additional of £15.0(10 and ten per cent,, of £30.0U() respective!v of the footpaths, channelling and drainage portions of the £85.000 loan. 1910, one fifteenth of a penny in the £. (d) On £5OO. being part ten per cent, additional on the footpaths and channelling portion of the £B5 000 loan, 1910. one-eightieth of a penny in the £. (e) On the £ll3O hospital loan. 4913, one forty-eighth of a penny in the £. Total special rates, one and one tenth of a penny. Total_ general, library and special rates 2jd. Water Rates. (a) On all lands and buildings used as dwelling houses to which water is supplied a rate of lid. in the £. (b) One half of the water rate mentioned above on all lands and buildings to which water can be put but is not supplied situate within one hundred (100) yards of any part of the waterworks ; and on buildings used as stores or warehouses or for any purpose other than dwellinghouses, one half (3d.) of the rates mentioned in paragraph (a) hereof. The minimum water rate under paragraph (a) to be 10, - and under paragraph (b) 5/-. All the above mentioned rates are to be payable, in one, sum at the office of the Hastings Borough Council, Heretaunga street, Hastings, on October 9th, 1914.
