THE BELGIAN FUND.

Further contributions to the Hast ings Belgian Relief Fund are as fol lows: — Previously acknowledged 2107 5 I Hastings Chamber of Commerce ."> 7> < Proceeds Patriotic Service At Havelock N 9 15 i Total £2122 G -I TO TH* Sir —ln connection with the dona tion by Mr. W. Nelson of a kinematograph and films towards the Belgian Fund, I desire to state that the necessary permission has ’oven obtained for raffling the films. The law does not permit a kinematograph to be raffled, as it is not deemed to be a “work of art.’’ Anyone seeing Mr. Nelson's kinematograph will entirely disagree with this dictum. But there it stands. Curiously enough, the films are not barred : they are admittedly "woiks of art.” and it is the 24 films therefore that are to be raffled. It seems scarcely necessary to add that the fortunate winner of the films will not have to look very far for a machine to operate them, j Mr. Nelson has presented both machine and films and although the law does not permit us to laffle the machine itself, the winner of the; lottery will, without doubt, find him-1 self able to present in his own home an unrivalled and charming enter tainment. Tickets are now obtain I able at my business premises, and as a large number have already oeen disposed of those interested are ad vised to get in earlv. —I am. etc.. T. CL ARK.SO N.
