The attendance was 4,276 and the takings £lOl. The proceedings were n6ver particularly interesting, Victoria winning by an innings and 110 runs.

Lampard and Lugton were opposed by Sandman and Robinson Lugton tried to cut Sandman, who bowlefl him with a googly. Speaking at the luncheon, Mr. McKinnon, president of the association, said that the New Zealanders had come, not with the idea of beatirfg the Australians, but anxious to learn and gain ideas of value to the gsffie in New Zealand. AVhen play ceased for the day, ’Tukapa A, 'in their first innings, had lost five wickets for 87 runs.

HASTINGS SUB-ASSOCIATION.

In the Hastings Sub Association’s second grade competition, St. Matthew’s and Paki Paki commenced a match at Cornwall Park. St. Matthew’s, who batted three men short, were dismissed for 32 (Ford 5, Masters 10, Collinge 11, Stockham 1). Paki Paki ran up the large total of 142 (McCracken 9, Kbre Homa 30. Allen 30, Moyer 30, Tomlin 21. Han sen 29). Tomlin, for Paki Paki, accounted for 5 wickets and Jones for 2. For St. Matthew’s, Grey took 4 wickets, Masters 3, Ford 2. St. Matthew’s in their second innings, have 3 wickets down for -11.
