SWIMMING.

Record entries have been received for the Hastings Swimming sports to be held on Wednesday night. The baths will be brilliantly illuminated by electricity and patrons are assured cf a comprehensive and attractive programme. A very large contingent cf swimmers and divers from Napier and Port Ahuriri have entered and the officials will have a strenuous time getting the various heats off. To deal with this aspect a staff cf Officials thoroughly expert in the conduct of swimming carnivals has been secured and the public may expect to see events follow each ether with well ordered precision. From the interest that is already being displayed in this carnival it is evident that the only possible drawback will be the limited seating space available at the baths. Patrons arc urged Io get their tickets beforehand and arrive at the baths cnily. As the clock strikes eight the first race will start. A diag will leave the Napier Muni•ijml Baths for Hastings at 5.-15 on 'Wednesday evening. Those desirous of securing seats are requested m communicate with Mr. J. Hannay.
