ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE.

POLICE IRREGULARITIES. Wellington, March 14. Richard Eager, and Samuel Jarvis were charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with keeping a common gaming house, and eight others with being found on the premises. Two detectives were subjected to vigorous cross-examination by the counsel for defence ; one of them admitted that he had no search warrant, and no right to take away a pack of cards found there. Counsel also objected to the alleged collaboration by detectives in their preparations of notes. The magistrate dismissed the charges against the eight defendants who admittedly were not found on the premises, but were stopped after they left the house. He reserved judgment in the cases of Eager and Jarvis.
