Yesterday, at Adelaide, the captain of tlio ship Disdain was acquitted of a. charge of manslaughter in connection with the death of the two mon drowned in the collision of the ship with a lighthouse on November 17th. The Tariff Reform League’s annual report has been published in London. It states that- the preference cause within the Empire, except- in the United Kingdom, has definitely advanced. Rear-Admiral Gozo was arrested at Rome for grossly insulting and attempting to strike the Minister of Marine, owing to resentment at being placed on the retired list.
