COMPULSORY TRAINING.
METHODIST OPINION DIVIDED. (Received 13, 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, MA’ch 13. At the New South Wales Methodist Conference on the motion that the conference records grave and emphatic disapproval of the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act, as assailing the foundation of character, violating personal liberty, invading the sphere of parental rights and responsibilities, and influencing serious injury on the national life and character, the voting was 43 on each side, the president giving the casting vote against.
