THE VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH.

WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. YVELLINGTON* TO NAPIER IN* 6 HOURS 38 MINUTES.

At the 11.8. Motor Cycle Club’s sports, hold on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. Out: of an entry of 12 machines, representing five different makes, the Triumphs secured 10 firsts. 7 seconds, and -I thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is considered that the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power, and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders.

On Saturday, Dec. 30th, Me. J. L. Brathwaite left for YVellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt on tne existing figures of the Wellington to Napier record—viz., 8 hours 35 minutes, established by Air. IL L. Schaeffer on Now Year’s Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In spite of .several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has stood to tlie credit of the 7: iump’.i tor three.years. Air. Brathwaite left the AVel’ington Day, and arrived nt th*’ N’npser Post Office* at 10.57 a.m., his time being 6 hours 38 minutes, lowering the previous record by nearly two hours. 'J he Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish,'tlie only two stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is only penect machines, made from the finest material procurable, that can average 33J miles an hour over 230 miles of Neu Those®* who were lat the Napier Post Office at the finish could not help but remark on the perfect condition oi tlie machine at the, finish. The Triumph is not only made for speed. It lias proved itself to be the machine tor hard work and iong wear, and is perfectly adapted to New Zealand roads. Me can deliver both fixed and tree engine models from stock, and would be pleased te give trial runs to intending purchasers at all tinrns. —Tourist Mfttor (0., Ltd., sola agents for Triumph and B.S.A. motor cycles, Mairai’apa.
