Dr. Marshall is in Napier and is going <m to Gisborne by the next boat.

Mr. ami Mis. A. V. Laurie Rhodes ariived in Napier by motor yesterday and arc going on to Taupo.

Mr. John Holden, and Mr. Haggitt, manager of the Waipawa Bank of Australasia, leave shortly for a trip to Australia. Air. J, McConkey, of Waipawa, has been appointed to the position of caretaker at the Opaki racecourse, Masterton. Mr. W. N. Wood, of the Bank of New South Wales, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington, and leaves for the latter place tomorrow.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. King, of Wair pawa, leave on Saturday next ior a trip to Australia. During Mr. King’s absence his business will be managed by- Mr. Harold Weaver.

Mr. F. Cook, of Hastings and his daughter. Miss Jessie Cook, intend leaving on an eight months trip to the Old Country at the end of March, joining the Orient liner Osterley at Sydney on April lOth.

Mr. A. L. D. Fraser, a candidate for the Hawke’s Bay seat at the last general elections, is to be tendered a complimentary- dinner in Anthony’s tea rooms. Hastings, to-morrow evening.

The following were passengers by the Wairoa coach from Napier this morning : —Misses Offer, Rice, Mesdames Simpson, Lee, Morrison, Simpson, Marton, Baird, France, Blair.

Mr. T. Walsh, associate editor of “The Voice of Labour,” is at present in Christchurch making arrangements for the publication of a Christchurch edition of the Labour weekly, which is to be issued shortly.

Mr. C. E. Cross, of Christchurch, has received advice that Sir John G. Nutting, of Dublin, and his son, Mr. Ronald S. Nutting, arc at present in Melbourne on a tour of Australasia. They- are expected to arrive in New Zealand shortly.

Mr. Leslie Reynolds, consulting engineer for the Wairoa Harbour Board, accompanied by Miss Reynolds, arrived in Napier by the boat to-day from Wellington. They go on to Wairoa by the first boat. Mr. Pulley, the contractor for the new wharves, goes to Wairoa with them.

Mr. Gordon, M.A.. who is resigning his position.as assistant master at the Napier Boys’ High School, some time in March, will be succeeded by Mr. K. (!. Fraser, M.A., Mir. Fraser was formerly a junior scholar and also a senior scholar in French of the New Zealand University.

Mr. Percy Grainger, the successful Australian pianist, h is b-gun t. Continental recital tour, which will not be completed until he has given forty concerts. He is playing in Holland, Germany, and Switzerland. Some of Mr. Grainger's orchestral works will he heard in London, at the Queen’s Hall, during March. April and May.

Mr. J ,H. Murdooch, M.A.. who is to take fbc place of Mr. Lomas as third assistant master at the Napier Boys’ High School, is a man of cxctplionally h.gh, scholastic ability. Previous to taking up th? position of teacher at the Gisborne High School, where he has been for the last, year, Mr. Murdoch was a junior and aUo a senior scholar in England of the New Zealand Univeisiiy. He took his final degree of AI.A. with double honours, in French and English and in Mental Science.

Mr. C. A. R. Price, of the commercial staff of the Hawke’s Bay "Herald,” was married to Miss -Annie Crawley, of Clive, at St. Patrick's P: esby tery. Napier, yesterday morning. Miss Kathleen Crawh’y acted a•> In idesmaid, and Mr. McNamara was best man. The bride, was given away by her father, Air. Denis Craw icy. The Rev. Father AlcDonnell was officiating minister. The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of useful and valuable presents. After the ceremony they left by motor car for Taupo, where the honeymoon will be spent.
