DISTRICT SEIIELD MATCHES.

NAPIER v. HASTINGS

The first game of the first round was played between 5 rinks from the Napier and Hastings clubs on the Napier green yesterday afternoon. General approval was expressed by all players as to the perfection of the green from a bowler’s point of view, and great praise is due to the care and attention bestowed upon it by Mr. Morris, the caretaker. Jwo matches in the District Shield Competition were played on the Bluff Hill green yesterday afternoon between rinks from the Greenineadows and Bluff Hill clubs respectively, Greenmeadows winning both matches. Following are details : —
