NAPIER v. HASTINGS
The first game of the first round was played between 5 rinks from the Napier and Hastings clubs on the Napier green yesterday afternoon. General approval was expressed by all players as to the perfection of the green from a bowler’s point of view, and great praise is due to the care and attention bestowed upon it by Mr. Morris, the caretaker. The following are the rinks and scores, those of Napier being shown first: — Azzopardi. Worthington, Runciman, Wrightson, 13: McLeod, Bates, King, Land, 17. Flarston, Simin. Rice. Thomson, Martin, Bull, 28; McKibLin, Knight, Holt, Beatson, 11. Napier scores one point on this match as the matches between cinbs are decided on the aggregate score.
GREENMEADOWS v. BLUFF HILL.
Jwo matches in the District Shield Competition were played on the Bluff Hill green yesterday afternoon between rinks from the Greenineadows and Bluff Hill clubs respectively, Greenmeadows winning both matches. Following are details : —
Beatson. Fox. Leatham, Lucas, 19; Waters. Duncan, Tabuteau, McUarthv. 17.
Glendinning, Oakenfull. Fletcher, Crowley. 22 ; Greatbatch, Snodgrass, Smith, Laing, 21. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the Bluff Hill club, and was greatly appreciated.
SATi’R DA Y’ S MATCHES. The second match of the first round will be played on Saturday next between Napier and Bluff Hill (2 rinks) on Napier green, and Hastings v. G reenmeadows (3 rinks) on Greenmeadows green. The following are the players to represent Napier club: —Holt. Irvine. J. P. Smith, F. Williams; Bear, Cunningham. Wrightson. Bull: emergencies. Critchley and Smart.
The following teams will iepresent Bluff Hill Bowling Club v. Napier on Napier green on Saturday next : — Tabute.iu. Waters. Newton. McCarthy; Greatbatrh. Dean. Smith. Laing. It lias not .vet been decided by the Hastings and Greenmeadows Clubs how many rinks will bo played on Saturday. A." soon as this is known the Hastings teams wil be chosen.
