HOSPITAL SATURDAY IN HASTINGS.

The enthusiasm shown at yesterday's meeting to make arrangements for the holding of a Hospital Saturday at Hastings in aid of the funds of the Napier Hospital augurs well for the success ol the project. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. A. Miller) presided over an attendance of fifteen ladies, Mr. W. Shrimpton (chairman ol the Hospital Trustees), and Mr. James Garnett.

It was decided that next Satur-j day should be Hospital Saturday, j to make a house-to-house canvas I for subscriptions, and to have collections made in the business thoroughfares throughout the day.

The following committees were appointed to canvass different portions of the borough :—Mesdames Lewis, W. Keith, Cronin, James Garnett, Misses Luckie, Cronin, and Ford; Mesdames De Lisle. Pinckney, Brodie, Valperie, and Fraser; Mesdames H. E. Beamish, Nowbigin. and Barcroft; Mesdames J. A. Miller, Ellingham, Misses Mason (2) and O'Reilly; Fernhill, M*** Elsie Williams; Stortford Lodge to railway, Mrs. Basil-Jones; main street to St. Aubyn street, Miss Amy Crosse; King street to railway, Mesdames Macdonnell and Tosswill; Council Chambers to railway, Miss Gracie Basil-Jones; evening collectors, Mesdames J. A. JtiHer, * Brodie, Pinchney, NewIngin, De Lisle, and the Misses Cronin.

Mt 'Miller’s offices in Station street will be the headquarters. Mrs. T. H. Lowry’s offer to bear the expense of providing luncheon and afternoon tea at Miss Heslop’s tea-rooms for the collectors was accepted with thanks. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. MEETING AT NAPIER. A meeting was held in the Napier Borough Council Chambers thia morning at 11 a.m., for the purpose of discussing arrangements for the forthcoming Hospital Saturday. Mr. Shrimpton, chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board occupied the chair. There was an attendance of about 15 ladies and several gentlemen.

A plan of the borough was displayed showing the different districts marked out, and the chairman pointed out that the principal business that morning was to allot collectors for those districts.

The ladies present took a very keen interest in the work and a highly satisfactory allocation of work yras arranged. Districts were allocated as folWestahore. —Mrs. George Nelson. Western end of Carlyle street, Spencer and Havelock roads.—Mrs. Averill.

District between Emerson and Dickens streets. —Mrs. Bush.

Hastings street between P.O. * and Caledonian Hotel —Mrs. Moller and Nurse Donald. South of Dickens street. —Mesdames Hector Smith and Levein.

Thackeray street South.—Mrs. Riddell.

Napier South. —Mrs. Ziele.
