KING’S THEATRE, HASTINGS
A much appreciated programme was welcomed by crowded houses at the King’s Theatre on Saturday and last night. One of the most prominent features of the new programme was a pretty and interesting scenic study “Amalfi.” “Pathes Gazette” and “Transporting Timber” were also exceedingly interesting. The dramas were excellent in every respect and the delightful stories told in “The Call to Arms,” “The Broken Symphony.” Catalina” and “The Attack on the mill” were all lagely appreciated. The comics “Tontolini’s Acrobats,” “Vacation at Havana” and Farmer Jenkins visits the City” were as usual screamingly funny. The programme will be repeated to-night.
BARTON’S CIRCUS.
RETURN VISIT TO NAPIER.
After a successful season at Gisborne, Barton’s Circus is paying a return visit to Napier, and to-night, at Clive square, will give a performance in aid of the Napier Hospital. The proprietors’ consideration for others is further shown, by the alteration of their arrangements for Taradale, as it was found that the circus dates would clash with a church concert. There will be a number of new items, also buckjumping competitions. Paul Tasmau, equilibrist and juggler will make his first appearance in Napier, and the programme will conclude with a steeplechase for local riders. At the matinee to-morrow af-
ternoon there will be skipping competitions for the girls, and some novel and amusing competitions for the boys. The box plan is open at Howe Bros., and the booking indicates that the hospital will benefit considerable.
