There is nfi doubt that the unnecessarily long delay which occurred between tfte time this match was started and its termination, has had much to do with the result, causing Colts to be placed at a very great disadvantage. Had the game been finished on the day which was set down for it, about three months ago—and no valid reason can he advanced why it should not have been—it is practically certain that victory would have been the other way. JUNIOR CUP. Saturday’s contest between the High School and Ahuriri teams ended in an easy win for the School by an innings and 50 runs, and they are for the second season in succession returned winners of the Junior Championship. Batting first, Ahuriri made 129 (Nightingale 18, H. Fulton 13, W. Anderson 37, D’Arcy 19, N. Anderson 17). The successful bowlers were Stewart (four for 28), R. Goulding (two tor 31), Gold Smith (two for 27), and Falconer (one for 23). School responded with 217 (Bogle 44, R. Colliding 10, Andrews 45, Gold' Smith 50, Sandel 33). The wickets fell to D’Arcy (one for 41), Nightingale (one for 13), N. Anderson (four for 19), and Milne (three for 12). In their second venture Ahuriri made a very poor stand, being all out for 38, Heron being top scorer with 7. Falconer (two for 12), R. Goulding (tour for 11). Bogle (one for 5), and A. Goulding (three for 3), were all well on the spot with the ball. This match terminates the Junior matches for the season.

MEETING OF DELEGATES. A meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association will be held this evening. RAILWAY v. VULCAN FOUNDRY. The match Railway Department v. Vulcan Foundry, was played on No. 3 wicket, Recreation Ground, on Saturday, and after an enjoyable afternoon’s play resulted in a win for Railway by 84 runs.
