HOSPITAL DEMONSTRATION
ADDSESS BY EIE BOBEBT STOUT. [PBBIS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Sunday. Some thousand! of persons attended the Hoipital Sunday Demonstration at the Batia Reserve this afternoon. Sir Koberfc Stout, in the oourse of an eloquent address, dwelt on the meed for the Convalescent Home, for which the demonstration was held. He expressed the hope that thoEo unable to give monetary assistance would display sympathy by helping in other ways, tpeaking on the subjeot of Sabbath desecration lie pointed out that the early reformers Lather and Calvin, like Bishop Julius, held much more liberal viess than many of their SHeceeaors, and that the founder of Christianity had told the Jews 1900 years ago that it was lawful to do good on the L'abbath. <• ir Joseph Ward subsequently spake of the deserving nature of the object and of the steps taken by the State in reosnt years in aid of hospitals. He thantei the people for attending in such large numbers and the different bauds for the excellent musical programme provided. Over a huodred bandsmen took part in the demonstration.
